Foot Locker, the global footwear retailer, has announced plans to relocate its corporate headquarters from New York to St. Petersburg, Florida, in late 2025. The Fortune 500 company's move was announced last week by city officials.
"Foot Locker's move represents a significant corporate relocation and importantly, it's another example of impactful and inclusive economic development in our city and the Tampa Bay region," said St. Petersburg Mayor Ken Welch. The move follows the recent Historic Gas Plant District project approval and is expected to create over 150 new jobs.
The retailer will join other Fortune 500 companies in the area, becoming the third headquartered in St. Petersburg alongside Jabil and Raymond James, and the fourth in Pinellas County, which includes TD Synnex in Largo.
As part of the relocation agreement, Foot Locker must lease a 100,000-square-foot facility within city limits and make a minimum $20-million capital investment. The company is also required to involve small, local minority and woman-owned businesses in the process.
